Entering Employee Deduction Details
Enter any relevant details for recurring deductions in the Employee Deduction Details form, which you can access by clicking Edit Detail on the Recurring Deductions form. (See Working with Recurring Deductions.)
To edit a recurring deduction, do the following:
1.
Enter the Limit amount, which is the most that the system can deduct in a payroll period. This amount overrides any limit defined for this deduction code. If you do not enter a limit here, then any limits defined for this deduction code apply. |
2.
Enter the Maximum amount the system can deduct on a monthly, quarterly, yearly, or lifetime basis, as set in the Basis field. Any maximum set here overrides the maximums defined for the deduction code. If you do not enter a maximum here, then any maximums set for the deduction code apply. |
Note: When a rehired employee's lifetime maximum deduction amount is reached as based on their past deductions and their rehired deduction amount, the deduction stops occurring.
3.
Select the Basis to which the Maximum applies: Monthly, Quarterly, Annually, Lifetime, or Pay Period. |
Note the following when using the Pay Period option:
•
Selecting Pay Period processes the deduction once per pay period, which can only be used in conjunction with a voluntary deduction type. (If you select a deduction type for a non-voluntary deduction type, then the Pay Period option does not display.) In addition, there is no requirement for a maximum amount when you set the basis by pay period. |
•
To allow the system to process arrears, if you select the Pay Period option you cannot add an amount in the Maximum field. (The system disables the Maximum field.) |
•
When set to Pay Period in the following scenario for regular, special, or manual payrolls, the system only processes voluntary deductions once per pay period: |
•
The voluntary deduction must be configured in the Recurring Deductions form. |
•

4.

5.
Select Mandatory if this deduction is for goods or services provided to the employee that are a mandatory part of employment. |
6.
Enter a Start Date; the system begins processing the deduction on or after this date. |
7.
Enter a Stop Date; the system stops processing this deduction on or after this date. |
